A faithful ally of Rossi 15 years ago, Ana Clara Alberdi was appointed head of the AFI

President Alberto Fernández met this Wednesday, February 15, with Ana Clara Alberdiwho will assume as head of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI)instead of Augustine Rossiwho became chief of staff.

“The president analyzed together with the incoming official the objectives for the organization in this new stage”Distinguished Presidency in a statement in which she formalized her appointment as the new chief of spies.

Alberdi, a graduate in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires, is an official close to Rossi, who has been with him for 15 years and that he currently served as number two of the AFI.

In addition to accompanying Rossi at the AFI, she had also seconded him as the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defense when the man from Santa Fe headed that ministry at the beginning of Alberto Fernández’s administration.

The official confirmation came after President Agustín Rossi was sworn in as the new head of the Cabinet of Ministers, in an act in which the president valued his commitment “to the unity” of the Frente de Todos.

“I received the new head of the Federal Intelligence Agency, Ana Clara Alberdi. We discussed and analyzed together the objectives of the organization for this new stageFernández posted on his Twitter account.

Although Alberdi’s name had been slipped by Casa Rosada sources as a candidate to replace Rossi, the meeting between the President and the national official confirmed the versions that were circulating in off the record.
