Chilavert announced that he wants to be president of Vélez: “We have closed agreements with the groups”

This Wednesday, Jose Luis Chilavertformer goalkeeper of Velezannounced that will seek to be president of the Liniers institution and he assured that he already has “closed agreements with other groups” for the next elections.

I am seriously analyzing being a candidate for president, we already have closed agreements with other groups. Uniting all of us, we will promote much more. By dividing we harm the institution,” Chilavert said in radio statements.

Then he added: “My idea is to unite all of Vélez, except for the La Cámpora movement led by Augusto Costa. We will see what happens with the people of Amalfitani and the movement led by Raúl Gámez. It is a question of being able to talk. We cannot allow the politics that have been so destructive in Argentina to be incorporated into a model institution such as Vélez“, closed.

In early May of this year, Chilavert participated in the presidential elections in Paraguay, but did not obtain good results. The former soccer player was a candidate for the Youth Party and ranked seventh in votes, with 24,284 votes out of a total of more than 3 million, for which he only achieved 0.80 percent.

Chilaver’s bad history in Vélez’s politics

In 2014, the group supported by Jose Luis Chilavert (Velezana Unit) will have to confront the block called Círculo El Fortín, whose leader was Raul Gamezwho had been president of the club when the Paraguayan defended the club’s goal.

Finally, the result was not what Chilavert wanted: his list obtained 35% of the votes, being far surpassed by that of Gámez, who obtained 65% of the votes and became the new leader of the institution.
