Jesús Rodríguez, a radical political leader, thought that the UCR National Convention it must ratify the Together for Change alliance and focus on a programmatic proposal. “I would like the opportunity to vote a radical formula”, he stated in Fontevecchia modeby net tv and RadioProfile (FM 101.9).
What expectations do you have of what can happen today at the National Convention of the Radical Civic Union?
The National Convention is scheduled to begin after lunch, at approximately three in the afternoon. This instance is very important, because is the ultimate organizerthe one that deals with the electoral policy of the UCR and the programmatic bases that are going to be presented.
So I’m excited, because in a democracy, the political parties irreplaceable son. And what matters, in my vision, are institutional decisions, more than personal opinions.
Francisco de Rosa: “Vote buying in Tucumán is totally naturalized”
I think it would be good to express two statements. One, the ratification of the will of the political coalition that we are part of, Together for Change, which competed four times, obtaining three victories. Together for Change has expressed around 40% of popular opinion.
And I think that’s appropriate, because in our opinion, Together for Change is the force in the best conditions to introduce a change in Argentina.
The second thing that I would like to see expressed is something that is part of our political DNA, which is dialogue. The dialogue It is essential for democratic life, and it is absolutely essential in a troubled society like Argentina. Those are the two things I would like the convention to address.
Aníbal Fernández: “The performance of La Cámpora in Mendoza has not been good”
What does your consideration of the need for dialogue in the context of presidential candidacies imply? Should there be a purely radical candidacy and that other radicals can integrate a mixed candidacy? What is your point of view?
It is not a decision that the convention has to make, because since the electoral rules were modified, from the PASO, it is no longer the political parties that have the monopoly of representation. Any citizen who is a member of any of the coalition parties can appear to compete.
So the National Convention is not going to talk about these issues, that’s why I commented on the axes that it considers important. The need for dialogue between the actors, the need for programmatic agreements and the ratification of the Together for Change coalition.
In relation to the candidacies, until now the radicalismo has two candidates. Both with many merits, Gerardo Morales and facundo manes.
Gerardo Morales wrote to the ‘ambushed’ Cameron: “I am sorry that they gave you false information and in bad faith”
If you allow me a common thread between the two, both are children of something that defined Argentina for decades: upward social mobility, which has allowed people from homes and places, despite the most affluent sectors of society, to access to university degrees, positions of political representation and honors of very relevant representation.
Do you think that there would have to be two candidacies of radicalism or would they have to be unified into one? Do you think that there could be a radical formula and that another radical integrates some other formula?
As a radical, I would like to have the opportunity to vote for a radical formula, knowing that we will all follow the result that the majority will produce in the PASO election in August.
Abad continues to weave his network in the Buenos Aires UCR: “We are a party of power”
Is the closeness that is seen between Gerardo Morales and Horacio Rodríguez Larreta symptomatic of a formula or do we journalists overinterpret it?
I really couldn’t answer you. In any case, it is part of the political reality of political actors who sometimes have shared views and other times do not. I don’t see that as an obstacle or something counterproductive.
