RadioProfile | Habits: Have you ever thought about the power of your routines?

The average mind requires 66 days to adapt to a change.

Have you ever thought about the power of your routines?

Going out with friends on Thursdays, having coffee with the girls on Saturdays, going to the movies on Sundays, having a beer when you return from the office, or a glass of wine when you meet up with friends, having a cigarette during office breaks, etc.

I am a fan of challenges, because I know that the brain needs time and repetition to stop being lazy or lazy. Three weeks is the time the mind needs to break an acquired habit.

According to University College London, the average time to adapt to a new habit is around 66 days, but there are people who can achieve it in just 18 and others who will need 360 days. The bottom line was that developing a new behavior will take you at least two months.

Create or break habits?

According to the neuroscientist Elliot Bekerman, it is much easier to create new habits, that is, to start doing something new, rather than stop doing it. For this reason, it is recommended to work on behavior replacements with other new and healthy behaviors, for example chewing gum to avoid smoking.

Motivation

In turn, it will be easier to stop a bad behavior if the person is really convinced of that and not by external pressure or suggestion from other people.

Patience

The more time a person has spent repeating certain behavior patterns, the more time they will spend on it. However, many people succeeded once they become aware of it, of the benefits of changing and incorporating the new habit.

How to do it?

One of the tools that, from my point of view, helps a lot and provides effective results, is guided meditation applied through meditation challenges.

Choose a challenge that you want to achieve, for example, have a healthier life, or be a grateful person, or have less anxiety, or be able to focus on the things you want to achieve. Some of the challenges that are found, or even what I lead through my telegram group are of 21 days or in my case I do them of 42, to lengthen the time of and generation of the habit.

Every day you listen to an audio with a guided meditation, focused on a specific topic, at the end you take note of whatever comes to mind in a notebook dedicated to that topic. As you progress through the process, you will notice how you are acquiring habits that will generate well-being in some area.

You can access some of them here:

I did it, that’s why I lead it. And the people who practice attest to that.

Take the test, or find your own way to create habits to achieve positive changes in your life.
