RadioProfile | On April 28, 2003 Apple launched the music store “iTunes Store”

Apple was founded on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobbs, Steve Wozniak, and Ron Wayne, a shareholder who left the company twelve days later.

It was created with the primary goal of distributing the desktop personal computer known as the “Apple 1”.

The machine was widely accepted and with the money from the profits the founders developed the “Apple II”, a computer that launched the company to success.

With the return of Steve Jobbs to the company in 1997, Apple focused its efforts on improving its products and testing new lines of business.

Seeking to venture into the music industry, and especially into new ways of listening to music, in the year 2000 he bought the “SoundJam” software, a popular application to play songs in MP3 format.

Apple worked on that system and on January 9, 2001 Steve Jobbs presented it as iTunes, a player and browser for multimedia content.

iTunes is pointed out by many as the most important software developed by Apple along with its operating systems.

Its presentation was almost simultaneous with that of the iPod, an audio player device. Both were evolving together to mark a new path of success in the history of the company.

iTunes was used to synchronize the content of the Ipods, the same as it would do with its new models and with the appearances of the Iphone and the Ipads.

On April 28, 2003, Apple launched the iTunes Music Store, an online store to buy songs from the iTunes program and download them to the company’s various devices.

The iTunes store marked a revolution in the way of buying music, and its success was immediate, selling one million songs during its first week of operation.

It is estimated that the iTunes Store achieved 10,000 million songs sold for the year 2010, accounting for 25% of music sales in the United States at that time.

In addition to music, iTunes also allows you to sync pictures and other media from Apple devices. Books, videos and games can also be found in the store.
