A few hours from the derby of Copa del Rey this Thursday between Real Madrid and the Atletico Madrid, a doll with Vinicius Jr’s shirt appeared hanging from the Valdebebas bridge, simulating a hanging and it took place near the training center of the team led by Ancelotti.
Also, over the bridge a flag was hung on which you can read “Madrid hates Real”. Although local authorities are investigating, the perpetrators have not yet been identified of this unpleasant fact.
According to the Spanish press, the motto that appeared on the doll is usually used by the radical fans of Atlético de Madrid.
Vinicius is once again immersed in the center of the controversy after he already in the last meeting between both teams they were targets of racist insults. In the derby last September, in which the whites won 2-1, some rojiblancos fans chanted racist insults against the Brazilian before and during the match. These facts were brought before the courts, which closed the case as they had not found a crime or who to blame.
The Atlético de Madrid statement
“Given the image that appeared today in various media outlets in which a message of hate is launched in the hours before the match that will face Real Madrid tonight in the quarterfinals of the Copa de SM el Rey, Club Atlético of Madrid communicates:
que facts like this are absolutely disgusting and inadmissible and embarrass society. Our condemnation of any act that attacks the dignity of people or institutions is resounding and unmitigated.
The rivalry between both clubs is maximum, but respect is also. No individual, whatever his intentions or his colors, can stain the coexistence between different hobbies. It is everyone’s responsibility to avoid it.
We do not know the author or authors of this despicable act, but their anonymity does not avoid their responsibility. We hope that the authorities are able to clarify what happened and that justice helps to banish this type of behavior“.
Real Madrid also expressed
“Real Madrid CF wants to thank the support and expressions of affection received after the unfortunate and disgusting act of racism, xenophobia and hatred against player Vinicius.
We express our firmest condemnation of events that violate the fundamental rights and dignity of people, and that have nothing to do with the values that football and sport represent.
These attacks like the ones our player now suffersor those that any athlete can suffer, they cannot have a place in a society like ours.
Real Madrid is confident that all the responsibilities of those who have achieved such a despicable act will be cleared up.”
