Schiaretti rejects the pressures of JxC: there will be no announcement of the election date on February 1

The Cordovan governor Juan Schiaretti is not going to announce the date of the elections in Cordoba in his speech next Wednesday, when he opens the legislative sessions in that province. The issue had become a demand from Together for Change, where there are several currents that are fighting for the candidacy and without a precise date that volcanic internal climate is being strengthened, but the response that came to the opposition leaders from the Governor’s Office was blunt. : “In the February 1 speech there will be no mention of the date of the provincial election.”

The Minister of Government and Security of the province, julian lopezHe was the one who was in charge of making official that Governor Juan Schiaretti will not talk about the date of the local elections on February 1 in his speech at the opening of legislative sessions.

“The call will be made within the terms in force in the legislation that governs the province of Córdoba, with an anticipation of 90 days as established and with a period between 180 and 60 days before the end of the mandate”, López affected the Cordovan press.

When asked about the claim of Together for Change to define the date of the election, López maintained that “in no way is Governor Schiaretti going to refer to his visit to the Legislature on February 1 when he is going to attend the opening of ordinary sessions of 2023”.

The JxC requests arose as a result of reports that ensured that the election would take place on May 7.

This Friday, references from Together for Changethrough a formal letter signed by the Radical Civic Union (UCR), the Republican Proposal (PRO) and the Civic Front local, they demanded that Schiaretti “define once and for all when to vote.”

“It is essential for the participants in the democratic contest, to know when they vote, in order to prepare their programs, candidates and electoral campaign, with adaptation to the date,” suggested the letter of Together for Change.

In Schiaretti’s environment they replied that “the law is clear”, and that although the elections must be held between 60 and 180 days before the end of the mandate, and that the Governor must convene 90 days before the date he sets, the president is still “it is within the legal deadlines” to make that decision.

“There is time to do it”, sources from the Panal, the provincial government house, responded at the insistence of the main opposition coalition. The requests arose as a result of reports that ensured that the election would take place on May 7.

Without the possibility of re-election and with national aspirations, Schiaretti supports the mayor of the capital city, to succeed him. Martin Llaryorawho has publicly said that they want a vote “as soon as possible”. Meanwhile, Together for Change maintains a strong internal position for the definition of the gubernatorial candidacy, for which reason it requires a certain date for to be able to start that fight between Senator Luis Juez and Deputy Rodrigo De Loredo.
