The AFA will seek this Thursday to reduce the decreases from three to two: who are the people of Cordoba who will not be able to vote

The Extraordinary Assembly of AFA this Thursday afternoon at the Ezeiza property will have as one of the points to resolve the reduction from three to two relegations for this season of the Professional Football League (LPF) when 21 dates have already been played the first championship of the year.

It will be sought that the club that loses the category is the one committed by the Annual Table, not the two by averages.

It would be a response in favor of the pressure exerted especially by three large clubs such as Independiente, Vélez Sarsfield and Huracán, which today are committed precisely by the Annual Table.

Blanco, the president of Racing, thought it was “untidy” that this decision was made when the final stretch of this first championship of the season was being reached and the League Cup still had to be played, although he pointed out that he was going to “accompany” the position that it be adopted

FIFA’s request

The visit of the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, is in favor of the championships with 28 clubs. During his visit to the country for the U-20 World Cup, he would have suggested to the head of AFA, Claudio Tapia, the format of the ideal Argentine championship.

From AFA they assure that one will be taken that goes beyond the elimination of the aforementioned decrease, since it will define the consolidation of the current model in the future.

A format that, until recently, proposed a gradual reduction in the number of participants until it reached 22 in 2026, with an approval that outnumbered the number of those who disapproved.

The people of Cordoba without a vote

According to the president of the Institute, Juan Manuel Cavagliatto before Radio Sucesos, neither La Gloria nor Belgrano will have a vote in said decision, since they are recently promoted clubs.

“Neither the Institute nor Belgrano voted in the assembly for the removal of relegations. You have to see what is being talked about tomorrow (for this Thursday) in AFA and wait for what happens, ”said Cavagliatto.
