The fixed term calculator: how much will you earn by investing 100,000 pesos with the new interest rate

He Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) implemented a new increase in interest rates. The Nominal Annual Rate (TNA) has been adjusted to 97%, while the Effective Annual Rate (TEA) has remained up to 154%.

This measure, similar to that adopted in April, is intended to attract investors and allow them to observe the new fixed-term rates. At the same time, seeks to alleviate the demand for dollars and absorb liquidity What puts pressure on inflation?.

In the period from April 20 to the present date, the annual rates have undergone three increases in a row: first from 77% to 81%, then from 81% to 91% at the end of April, and now in May from 91% to 97%.

In what is better to invest the money: in a fixed term or in dollars

From the new interest rate, if a fixed term of $100,000 for 30 daysat the end of the period they will receive the interest generated by 30 days that will be $8,080.

How to perform the calculation?

To calculate the monthly rate for a fixed termwhich represents the return over a period of 30 daysthe following calculation must be made: divide the Nominal Annual Rate (97%) by 12 months.

The result will be 8.08%. According to the current provision of the BCRA, this is the monthly rate obtained through this investment method.

After the rate increase: is the fixed term better than the dollar?$

If winter $100,000

In the event that the investment is $100,000, the interest generated at 30 days will be $8,080, so the new balance will be $108,080. If this new amount is renewed for another 30 days, a new balance of $116,812 will be obtained.

In the event that the interest rate of 97% was maintained for 12 months, about $254,000 would be obtained.
