The Argentine Foreign Ministry repudiated this Wednesday, May 10, the recent Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip. However, the Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAY) was upset by the words issued by the entity and described the message as “worrying and rude”.
“The Argentine Republic condemns the recent military operation carried out by the Israeli Air Force in the Gaza Stripthat uses the death of Palestinian civilians, including women and children, and numerous injuries”, was condemned in an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, portfolio in charge of Santiago Cafiero.
The message also made “an urgent call to the parties to avoid a higher level of confrontation that began the dramatic humanitarian situation in that area”, given that “the escalation of violence that has already caused the death of more than 100 Palestinians and 15 Israelis this year is worrying”.
“The Argentine Republic emphatically maintains that the lives of civilians must be protected under all circumstances, and reiterate to Israel the urgent need to respect international humanitarian lawespecially the principles of distinction and proportionality”, the official text expanded.
To conclude, the message remarked that from Argentina there is a “Commitment to a just and definitive peace to the Palestinian-Israeli conflictin accordance with international law and the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations”.
DAIA’s criticism of the Foreign Ministry
Hours after the issuance of the statement, the DAIA assured: “The statement from the Foreign Ministry of our country suffer from a worrying and rude mistake or, even worse, has the manifest intention of considering a terrorist organization as part of the conflict, as defined by the Argentine Republic”.
“Once again the Foreign Ministry takes a biased view of history and cuts out the background of the conflict”The entity that represents the Argentine Jewish community maintained and clarified: “You cannot confuse a terrorist organization whose sole objective is to assassinate civilians with the Palestinian people.”
In conclusion, the organization stated: “It must be clear: Israeli democracy defends its citizens by attacking Islamic Jihad. The Islamic Jihad, supported by the Iranian terrorist State, attacks the entire people of Israel.” Said message bears the signature of the head of the DAIA, Jorge Knoblovitsand its general secretary, Alejandro Zuchowicki.

Tension in the Gaza Strip
During the early hours of last Tuesday, at least 25 people grew and another 20 were injured as a result of the bombardments launched by Israel against the Gaza Strip. In this regard, the Israeli army assisted corporal air strikes with about 40 planes and drones against three against three commanders of the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, the Al Qods Brigades.
For his part, Islamic Jihad guarantees the death of three leaders of the Al Qods Brigades, the commander in the northern Gaza Strip, the secretary of the group’s military council and a head of the movement’s military action in the occupied West Bank region.
On the other side, as explained by a military spokesman, the bombings were a response to the launch of more than 100 missiles recently carried out by Palestinian militias from Gaza to Israeli territory as revenge for the death of Palestinian prisoner Jader Adnan after 86 days of hunger strike.
