“Pochi” André met Barreda when he visited a prisoner friend. They maintained a relationship and lived together until July 2015, when she died as a result of her deteriorating health due to serious neurological problems. For the expert, Berta was another victim of the dentist.
“It was a woman who gave him an opportunity that he did not deserve, Barreda mistreated Berta, the woman who took care of him, gave him everything, but he mistreated her. She called him ‘chochán’, ‘ignorant’ and underestimated her,” he said.
“I met him. I know he never regretted killing the women in his family. He thought he had done justice. He was mentally disturbed. He died alone, not one person went to his funeral,” Maldonado emphasized.

The journalist P.Ablo Martí, biographer of the quadruple femicidewho prepared a book about the dentist that will go on sale next October, told telam that he was the only person visiting him. “At his burial – in a public cemetery in José C. Paz – no one went.”
The biographer said that Barreda asked him, as a last wish, that his body be cremated and that his ashes be found scattered on the Estudiantes de La Plata field, although the club rejected it.
Barreda also had problems with the nurses who assisted him in a hospital in the town of General Pacheco, he was hospitalized for 457 days due to a mental health condition, according to what the doctors who assisted him said at the time.
In July 2017, he was sent to a General Pacheco pension, after which he moved to San Martín, where he stayed for several months at the Eva Perón Hospital.
On March 10, 2020 -a few days before President Alberto Fernández decreed preventive and mandatory social isolation in the midst of the pandemic- Barreda was admitted to the “Del Rosario” nursing home, where he died on May 25 at the age of 84. years.

Barreda murdered his wife, Gladys McDonald (57), with a shotgun; his mother-in-law, Elena Arreche (86) and his two daughters, Adriana (24) and Cecilia (26). After the crime, he first denied responsibility for it and tried to pass it off as the consequence of a robbery at his house.
