Adaptation of Don Winslow Neal Carey’s book series reportedly attached to Netflix

Is the Neal Carey series in development at Netflix?

We first heard that a series adaptation was in the works courtesy of Term in April 2021. We then heard that MRC Television, Rian Johnson, and Ram Bergman simply chose to adapt the book. This means that they have the right to make the books into a series adaptation if they wish. Johnson Ram Bergman notably worked together on Knives Out.

At that time, Bad Education Cory Finley was attached to the project looking to write, direct and executive produce.

An earlier adaptation was in development at Columbia Pictures in the mid-2000s.

The news of Don Winslow’s books heading to Netflix comes courtesy of the writer himself, who recently announced that they would republish the first five novels with new covers and introductions.

Within the Tweet, he attached the series in development with Netflix and states that Rian Johnson is still on board, though in what capacity is unknown.

Netflix has yet to confirm that it will officially adapt Don Winslow’s books into a series at press time.
