River won, liked, thrashed and emerged champion of the League in the first challenge of the Demichelis era

If he had chosen a way to consecrate himself, to become champion, it was this: with an exhibition of football, with a goal one minute into the match, a defender –González Pírez– who cuts, feints and gives an exquisite assist, a striker – Beltrán – who defines a volleyball cross and a stadium for the cell phone or computer wallpaper: full of fans, the smoke that was barely visible and the fireworks on the retina. River champion is this: aesthetic perfection, a dream postcard. The biggest turn in millionaire history, with 86,000 people at the Monumental, took place after a…

If eight months ago the departure of Marcelo Gallardo sowed uncertainty about the future, what came after left a peace of mind that no one would have dared to predict: the path of Martín Demichelis's team towards this first title of his coaching career is very similar to The perfection. River wins, it fills the Monumental every time it plays and its people celebrate. For this reason, this Professional League that he has just conquered has a special component: after Gallardo there was not a vacuum, but rather a confirmation. Demichelis's team –with Enzo Pérez as captain and symbol– led…

“The worst drug is success”

Rolando”, the one-man show by Roly Serrano, delves into the world of a man who, slumped in a wheelchair, breaks the fourth wall by speaking to the public about his situation as a human being. Serrano, of course, is a face that national fiction has tattooed on more than one occasion. He is a face, a way of acting, speaking, stepping on the plane and the scene that deserves much more celebration than it already receives. And that has to do with his powerful way of understanding, from humility but also from talent, what a character can do, whatever character…

Scene 1: Martín Demichelis is relaxing in the German house that he has shared with his family for four years. He works as a coach for the reserve team of Bayern Munich, the club where he played between 2003 and 2010. He now enjoys a lazy afternoon with his partner, Evangelina Anderson, his son Bastián and their two daughters Lola and Emma. Nothing seems to disturb the peace of feeling at home, of being in your place in the world. Scene 2: Marcelo Gallardo announces that at the end of 2022 he will stop being River's coach. The cycle of…

“With Messi, soccer in the US is going to grow much faster”

Anna Edwardsfaster, grow, Messi, Soccer

Lionel Messi is worldwide. In any part of the planet he generates an impressive movement. However, the United States is a country that generates a certain 'mystery' as to what the captain of the Argentine National Team could generate, because there are other sports that are more popular than soccer. Darío Sala from Cordoba is an authorized word within Major League Soccer (MLS), either due to his achievements as a goalkeeper, defending FC Dallas between 2006 and 2010, or as a field assistant, when he was accompanying Gerardo 'Tata' Martino in Atlanta United for two seasons and achieved a memorable…

The last dance: Zapelli says goodbye to Belgrano

Anna EdwardsBelgrano, dance, Goodbye, Zapelli

In Argentine soccer, the future has already arrived. With the Professional League Tournament still underway, the 28 teams in the AFA top category managed to rearrange the pieces for the second half of the year, which has reserved almost all the definitions -another champion, qualification for international competitions and relegations - with the League Cup dispute, which will start on August 20. The turnover of players was anticipated, because the calendar is not even aligned with the expiration date of many of the contracts, and now the time has come to adapt to the terms and values imposed by the…
