Elections in Misiones: the elections closed with 75% participation and the first results are expected at 9:00 p.m.

The citizens of the province of Misiones went to the polls on May 7 to elect the next governor and lieutenant governorin an election in which the Frente Renovador de la Concordia appears as the favorite to retain power, again betting on the candidacy of Hugo Passalacqua, who was already provincial president between 2015 and 2019, and his running mate, Lucas Romero Spinelli.

In addition to electing governor and vice president, Misiones will put into play the positions of mayors and councilors of the 78 municipalities, 20 titular provincial deputies and seven substitute provincial deputies.

75% of the electoral roll voted

According to information from official sources of the provincial government, the elections closed normally and participation was 75%. The first results are expected after 9:00 p.m.

The Minister of Government of Misiones, Marcelo Pérez, assured the press that the general elections were carried out completely “normally” despite the “inclement weather” that hit a large part of the central area of ​​the province since morning .

Added to this, trust that the percentage of voters was around 75% in the entire province, according to the first data that was collected by the Misiones Police. In this regard, the official prevents him from representing “a good number of people who come to vote.”

Who were the candidates

The missionary officialism bet everything on the list of deputies, which will be headed by the current president, Oscar Herrera Ahuad, followed by the current legislator Anazul Centeno, and by Carlos Rovira, current president of the Chamber of Deputies and political leader of the Renewal. For his part, Hugo Passalacqua, a key man in the formation of the Frente Renovador de la Concordia, appears for the executive, along with Lucas Romero Spinelli as vice president.

In the opposition, the Cambiemos alliance appeared as the main competitor, which would lead to the pairing made up of the radical Martín Alfredo Arjol and the macrista Natalia Gabriela Dorper for governor and vice president.

For the Chamber of Deputies, Pedro Ramón Puerta, son of Ramón Puerta, headed the list. Representing the Frente de Todos, the lawyer Isaac Lenguaza, from the Agrarian and Social party, presented himself as a candidate for governor, and the current Kirchnerist deputy Santiago Mansilla, as his running mate.

On the list of provincial deputies, the first candidate was Cristian Gabriel Castro, followed by the executive director of Pami in Misiones, Marcela Irene Crechuska, and Víctor Alfredo Rosenfeld, president of the Labor and People’s Party. The Broad Front took as its candidate for governor the ultra-Christian Julia Perié, accompanied by the candidate for vice president Aurelio Torrez.

The Integration and Militancy party, which in principle was going to take the businessman Abel Motte as a candidate for
governor, finally brought together the candidates from Javier Milei’s party: the candidate for governor will be Ninfa Alvarenga, who will be accompanied on the formula by Julio César Peralta.

The Partido Obrero, for its part, will take Lorenza Virginia Villanueva as its candidate for governor, while Eduardo
Demetrio Cantero will complete the pairing. Lastly, the Democratic Party will lead Jorge Pelinski and Marilene Esmeralda as candidates for governor and vice president.

Hugo Passalacqua, optimistic with the results: “There are always challenges and we face them with great commitment”

The candidate of the Frente Renovador de la Concordia, Hugo Passalacqua, participated in the elections and predicted a good result for the force he represents. The provincial deputy, who is emerging as the favorite, voted at the Centro Polivalente de Arte, located at 301 Mosconi Street in the Capital del Monte.

“It’s a fantastic day. I spoke with the governor recently, they opened all the tables, in a calm way, I’m very happy. He told me that it was raining a little in the north, which complicates due to obvious issues, but all the tables had opened. Without on the novelty front,” he said. And he added: “There are always challenges and we face them with a lot of commitment.”

In addition, he encouraged missionaries to go to the polls: “Go vote, for whoever you want, it’s a very important day.” Added to this, the candidate to succeed Oscar Herrera Ahuad predicted a 70% turnout in the election, a result not far from 75% that actually came close to the polls.

Martín Arjol, after voting: “We have put our whole heart”

In the opposition circle, Martín Arjol also participated in the elections, voting at the “Normal 10” School in Posadas. During the vote, he remarked that “the important thing is that the missionaries vote in peace, in tranquility, that the missionary chooses. So we are very happy.”

Added to this, he stressed that he is “very happy with the consolidation” of his space, to which he expressed: “We have put everything, all our hearts and now we wait for the result and listen to the missionary what his will is, that the missionary can express himself and that this expression be in a framework of peace, of tranquility”.
