Fatal Attraction: The Toxic Remake of the Iconic 80s Movie

Streaming viewers are close to seeing another iconic ’80s movie turned into a series. April 30 opens fateful attractionl (Fatal Attraction), based on the hit thriller, directed by Adrian Lyne in 1987. A decision, by Paramount Plusthat follows the path of other similar platforms that opted for eighties remakes, such as Chucky or Cobra Kai.

Joshua Jackson (Doctor Death), Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman’s in Trouble) and Amanda Peet (Dirty John)are the new protagonists of this updated story, which follows the sordid romance of the lawyer Dan Gallagher, played by Jackson, with his co-worker Alex Forrest, played by Caplan. The sentimental bond will have its disastrous consequences, which will alter the family life of the unfaithful lawyer, within a toxic whirlwind of persecution and violence.

In the original version, the unforgettable Glenn Close, Michael Douglas and Anne Archer they played the lead roles in a story about a married man having an affair with a strange woman who becomes dangerously obsessed with him. The film received six Oscar nominations in the categories of: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing.

The eight-episode production, written by Alexandra Cunningham (Dirty John), explores topics such as marriage, infidelity, mental health and the way society views women. However, in a more extensive narrative format, the conflict has other nuances. “We are prepared to wonder more about the characters that we can explore in an eight-hour television series,” says the screenwriter.
