The episode took place on Saturday night around 11:45 p.m. at the kilometer 117 of National Route 34between the towns of Casas and Las Bandurrias, in the San Martín department of central-western Santa Fe.

Police sources indicated that the five fatal victims, whose identities have not yet been revealed, traveled on the bus of the travel and tourist services company “Torres Hermanos” in the province of Santiago del Estero. Among the missing is the driver of the bus, while the rest were passengers. Both the driver and three of the travelers appeared on the spot.

According to the first investigations, the bus that carried around 50 passengers had left Santiago del Estero and was traveling towards the city of Buenos Aires. During the journey, the truck, which was traveling in the opposite direction, hit the bus with its semi-trailer for reasons that are still being investigated. Local media reported that the Mercedes Benz truck came from the Corrientes city of Paso de los Libres and was driven by a 37-year-old man.
After the collision, the bus “continued along the shoulder and after about 200 meters stopped on a tree, in a field”explained to telam from the fire station in the town of Cañada Rosquín.
