This Thursday, June 29, the fifth film in the saga starring Harrison Ford: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, a new adventure for the archaeologist and teacher, the fifth since their adventures began at the hands of dand George Lucas and Steven Spielberg (today producers of this feature film): Raiders of the lost ark 1981. And this movie has a lot to do with that opening where we fell in love with the dangers they led us into. Mainly because in the first scenes of this feature film we see a indy younger (It is Ford without gray hair or beard, and with a bit of technology) confronting the Nazis as we are accustomed to. And the next thing we see is doctor jones retiring of the University.
But since everything is related, it is at that moment that the goddaughter (whose life was influenced by the events we saw at the beginning of the film), a young adventurer capable of selling historical treasures to the highest bidder. And of course the retiree embarks on new adventures around the world of the ’70s. We will also discover some facts that mark him in this present: he is divorcing the mother of his son (karen allen), because this young man went to war and never came back. That is the dramatic arc that justifies the obligation to get out of depression which poor Indy is walking into. Wouldn’t the same thing happen to you if they suddenly took away everything you like and/or love? And if.
Until here I tell you why I haveIt’s two and a half hours of good old fashioned fun: mischievously but no nudity or cheap shots. In addition to very bad bad (it seems that Mads Mikkelsen was born for this role, although we already know that he is a very good actor), relics of other times, the reappearance of familiar faces of the saga that return to prop up the protagonist, as John Rhys Davies and allen, you are wonderful; the emergence of new and ephemeral characters such as the friend who incarnates Antonio Banderas (big surprise and great composition) or Toby Joness. And in the middle of all this one Phoebe Waller Bridge (the goddaughter), whose for the first time I like his interpretation (come one by one), which means that it was well marked and contained in this choral cast.
The film is directed by james mangold with a vertiginousness that doesn’t bother. But we already know that he is someone who also knows how to handle actors very well if we review his filmography.
Does the film deserve a standing ovation like the one it got at Cannes? It’s not true that It’s very good, it’s great entertainment. The one who does deserve a standing ovation is Harrison Ford, for Indy, for Han Solo and for having a smooth career that he doesn’t want to get off of yet (and why should he?). The good thing about this movie is that you’re going to deviate so much that you won’t have time to shed a tear for the past tense (no less than 42 years since Lucas and Spielberg blew our heads with the adventures of this professor and archaeologist who did crazy things to get historical oddities).
