The candidate of Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba declared himself the winner of the elections that were held on June 25, although he acknowledged that “the official results are not there, but the trend is, with 90% of the votes counted we have a difference of 50,000 votes . It was a wonderful choice in the Capital”, said Llaryora. “Thank you for everything Daniel (Passerini): there is the next mayor of Córdoba.”
One thing to keep in mind is that Governor Juan Schiaretti was not present on stage. In his speech, Llaryora thanked the president for his support, although twice in his speech the current mayor revealed that he will assume a new generation and that they will start “from scratch.”
Although the electoral day passed without too many surprises, as soon as the elections were closed, both from the bunker of Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba and that of Together for Change, they showed themselves to be winners: in the case of Peronism they announced a difference of more than 10 points (what made by legislator Juan Manuel Cid) and from the opposition alliance by a narrower margin (between three and five points).
However, at half past one in the morning, Luis Juez shared the stage with the leaders of Together for Change, including Patricia Bullrich and Rodrigo De Loredo. “It’s a shame because we wanted to celebrate or congratulate the winners, but we can’t do either one or the other. We go to sleep without knowing who the elected governor of Córdoba is,” said Judge.
The difference that Llaryora made in the Capital was decisive when it came to victory: the representative of Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba achieved 44.57% of the votes, while Judge obtained 37.25%. The data is not minor if one takes into account that Peronism historically became strong in the interior and Together for Change (at some point radicalism in particular) made a difference in the capital. On the other hand, Together for Change prevailed in the so-called productive zone, with some key bastions, such as Río Cuarto.
One of the distinctive data was the percentage of participation, which was around 67%, one of the lowest since the return of democracy. As a reference, in the 2019 election the percentage reached 72.8%, while in 2021 (post-pandemic) it was 63% in the PASO elections and 67.6% in the general elections.
Some initial conclusions of what left the election:
In Juntos there were reproaches for De Loredo
There was no public demonstration or direct proposals (for now), but several leaders criticized Rodrigo de Loredo again for not having agreed on the formula with Luis Juez. “There was no way to lose,” said a judge from the first hour. “And it was reflected in the difference that Llaryora made us in the Capital. We will have time to talk, “he said.
In the Judge’s environment it did not go down well that on Sunday in full voting, De Loredo released one of his 60 proposals for the Municipality of Córdoba. “We know that the strategy is to present a proposal a day for 60 days, but he sent a tweet at 5 in the afternoon (with proposal 32) when we were in full swing with the election… I don’t know, it will be discussed these days,” he added. .
However, Judge maintained that from tomorrow (for today) “I will start working so that Rodrigo is the next mayor of the City.”
‘Schiaretti President’ starts without the expected strength
Governor Juan Schiaretti expected a more comfortable victory from Martín Llaryora. It was already planned that from today, Monday, the avenue in the middle would begin to travel more vigorously in which he will seek to position himself with his running mate, Florencio Randazzo, heading to the PASO on August 13.
However, the meager triumph of Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba serves him more so that the streak of Peronist triumphs since 1999 does not end. The new version of Cordoba, led by Llaryora, will not have him as the central protagonist.
Schiaretti to Juntos, a play that benefited Judge
In the final part of the campaign, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta did the impossible to add Schiaretti to Together for Change. Not only did they not improve it, but they ended an internal noise in the Cordovan coalition that even made Llaryora lose some points, according to the polls commissioned by the government.
And one more piece of information: he gave a compensated centrality to Judge, who traveled to Buenos Aires to tell the presidents of the parties that make up Together for Change that it was not convenient to add Schiaretti to that heating. The governor’s move did not go down well at the 6 de Julio Palace.
