Netflix is lining up its comedy movie slate with another title partnering with Rebel Wilson for the second time after 2022. Last year. This is what we know so far about Move the boat.
First revealed in October 2022Here’s a summary of what you can expect from the plot of the comedy movie set on a cruise ship and directed by Rebel Wilson:
“A female-led comedy about four best friends from high school who were obsessed with a famous boy band in the ’90s. When the band announces an overseas reunion tour on a cruise, our four women get together and deal to recover who they were and who they always wanted to be. As they sail among their fellow superfans, friendships will be tested, alliances formed, and definitely bad decisions made… In other words, “the ship just got real.”
luke greenfield will direct the film and has worked on several comedy features in the past, including the right hook, The girl next door and let’s be cops.
When the film was first revealed in October, Greenfield posted on instagram:
“And here we go! …Who wants to come with me on a cruise to beautiful Malta? We need Americans in the movie! No renters?”
The film’s script was initially written by Jacob Meszaros and zach taylorwith subsequent revisions by sarah rothschild, luke greenfield & jason benoit.
The film’s producers are Jon Turteltaub, Jonathan Price, Mark Ross and Josie Liang. Cathy Sandrich Gelfond serves as the casting director.
Entertainment One (eOne) will serve as the production company behind the new Netflix original title and the budget is set at $30 million.

What’s on Netflix can exclusively reveal that James Van Deer Beek has also been cast in the film. The actor is best known for Dawson’s Creek and varsity blues. She is expected to play one of the leads of the gang known as 4 PLAY.

We’re told the movie will start filming in April 2023 and will take place in Malta. Deadline’s original report revealed that the movie was originally set to start filming in January 2023.
