Netflix prepares the documentary ‘Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About Your Food’ for its release in 2023

Netflix has a massive collection of documentaries chasing big business and joining that list of titles later in 2023 will be Poisoned: The dirty truth about your food, which discusses some of the findings detailed in the 2011 book Poisoned: The True Story of the Deadly E. Coli Outbreak That Changed the Way Americans Eat.

This is what you can expect from the documentary based on the book POISONED by jeff benedict (which has a updated cover to reflect the Netflix adaptation):

“A shocking indictment of the food industry and its regulators, POISONED exposes how decades of apathy and malfeasance have left the American food supply and its consumers vulnerable to deadly pathogens like e. coli and salmonella.

netflix came first advertised to be attached to develop the documentary about the 2011 book in November 2022.

Of the relaunch of the book and the new film, Benedict said: “Making this story into a movie has been a writer’s dream. Grateful to Bill and Julie Marler for entrusting me with their odyssey (I didn’t expect to find a love story when I set out to write about a foodborne illness outbreak),” adding: “Lucky to have worked with Ross Dinerstein and his great team film at Campfire Studios”.

The documentary comes from the director Stephanie Sochtigthat has faced the food industry with various documentariesincluding struck and GMO GMOand other topics with titles like under the gun and Fed up.

For Netflix, Soechtig was behind tear down the housethe documentary of Bronx-born U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which premiered in May 2019.

Jeff Benedict serves as executive producer on the project alongside Rebecca Evans and Ross Girard with Ross M. Dinerstein and Kristin Lazure serving as producers.

Rod Hassler is serving as cinematographer on the project and Justin Melland is the composer.


When Poisoned: The dirty truth about your food be on Netflix?

An exact release date for Netflix has yet to be announced, though Netflix has included the documentary in its 2023 whiteboard planning document.

The documentary will premiere for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival with multiple screenings taking place between June 9-17 and opening for the first time at the SVA Theater on June 9.

Two other Netflix documentaries will also premiere in Tribeca along with take care of maya (which will premiere on Netflix in June) and saint of second chancesstarring Charlie Day and Jeff Daniels.
