New faces in Deputies: who are the “unknown” candidates who could reach the lower house

On October 22, half of the Chamber of Deputies in the National Congress and, although who will be the new legislators will only be defined there, the first steps of the electoral calendar offer some indications about its future conformation.

While many members will renew their seats, others will leave their place for new faces to appear. Ministers, mayors, a governor and complete inexperienced in institutional politics could appear in the next composition of the lower house.

union for the homeland, ex Frente de Todos, must renew 68 seats out of a total of 118, 57% of its bench. For his part, Together for Change it will change 47% of its seats. In case of remaining as a third force, Freedom Advances could exceed 20 deputies.

The ruling party will favor leaders with a lot of experience in institutional politics. In the province of Buenos Aires, Kirchnerism dominated the list of candidates with men and women from La Cámpora (such as Matías Molle and Luciana Potenza), and a few concessions to Sergio Massa’s Frente Renovador and the sector of President Alberto Fernández.

However, there is a name that draws attention due to the high degree of ignorance of its figure and its location: third place on the list. This is Mario “Paco” Manrique, a leader of the Automotive Transport Mechanics and Allied Union (SMATA) who communicates with Pablo Moyano. He will surely be an important voice within the subgroup of union deputies from Unión por la Patria.

Another resounding appearance in the new lower house will be that of the governor of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet, who occupies first place on the list of Peronism in his province. It will be his first legislative experience, after eight years as governor and a previous term as mayor of Concordia.

In 14th place, and with a high chance of winning a seat, appears Julia Strada, the young Kirchnerist economist and current director of Banco Nación. Strada, remembered for her time on television as a specialized columnist, will be one of the references for the Kirchner inmate in the Chamber of Deputies.

In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the list of candidates for national deputies does not have any great news, with the exception of the inclusion of the Kirchnerist legislator from Buenos Aires Lorraine Pokoikclose to La Cámpora, in third place on the list and with a high chance of entering.

In Santa Fe, meanwhile, the novelty is that the ballot of candidates for national deputies headed by the current president of the Frente de Todos bench, Germán Martínez, is seconded by the national director of Migrations, Florencia Carignano, who has high chances of entering the new lower house.

In addition, in the third position of that list built the Minister of Transportation, the Massista Diego Giuliano, for whom it would also be the first experience in the National Congress.

Together for Change

Among the most widespread news is the inclusion of the leader of Republican Peronism, Miguel Pichetto, in the first place on the list of Horacio Rodriguez Larreta in the province of Buenos Aires. The veteran Peronist leader, who since 2019 crossed over to Together for Change, is not a new face in the Chamber of Deputies, since he had two terms between 1993 and 2001.

Subsequently, he worked in the Senate, where he went from Menemism to Kirchnerism until 2015. In his last term he continued to preside over the Justicialista bloc until 2019, but already distanced from Cristina Kirchner and progressively getting closer to Cambiemos, to the point of being elected by Mauricio Macri as a vice-presidential candidate.

However, in the current opposition there will also be an important renewal. An appearance will be that of the radical lawyer paul julianthird on Rodríguez Larreta’s list behind Pichetto and Silvia Lospennato.

On the other hand, the list of patricia bullrich for the province of Buenos Aires has as its main novelty the incorporation of the mayor of Pinamar, martin yeza, who built in fifth place. In the fourth place appears Patricia Vázquez, who was an official of the Ministry of Security during the Bullrich administration, while in the sixth position the Buenos Aires senator from the PRO, Lorena Petrovich, wrote.

In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Together for Change is also aiming for a renewal. Rodríguez Larreta placed the president of the Buenos Aires UCR, mariela colettain second place on the list headed by Maximiliano Ferraro, while he reserved fifth place for the historic Buenos Aires gastronomic leader Dante Camaño, brother of Graciela Camaño.

On Patricia Bullrich’s side, the list is led by the dancer Maximiliano Guerra, followed by the economist Diana Fernandez Molero and, thirdly, for the organization of the campaign of the presidential candidate, damian arabia. He is followed by the former head of Enacom Silvana Giudici (who was already a national deputy between 2003 and 2011) and the benchmark of the Progressive Democratic Party, Oscar Moscariello.

In Santa Fe, Rodríguez Larreta’s list is headed by the radical Juan Cruz Cándido, current provincial deputy referenced in the candidate for governor Maximiliano Pullaro. He is seconded by the businesswoman from Rosario and leader of the PRO Veronica Razziniwhile Gerardo Colotti occupies the third place in representation of the Civic Coalition of Elisa Carrió. The former secretary of finance of the provincial capital carolina piedrabuena (UCR) ranks fourth and, as fifth, ex-chancellor Jorge Faurie cleared.

Closing of lists: The names in Hacemos por Nuestro País

On Patricia Bullrich’s list, joseph nuñez seeks to renew his mandate, but there are new faces such as Maria Liliana Serra, general secretary of the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral who is in second place. Third built Alejandro Bongiovanni, from Fundación Libertad and an ally of Ricardo López Murphy.

In Córdoba, Rodríguez Larreta’s list promotes the former mayor of Marcos Juárez in first place, pedro delarossa (PRO), while Patricia Bullrich’s ballot has the mayor of Jesús María, Luis Picat, at the head.

Freedom Advances

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the closing of the lists was the signature of the journalist Marcela Pagano in second place on the list of Javier Milei for national deputies, for the province of Buenos Aires. That payroll will be headed by “Bertie” Benegas Lynch, a business executive with a long track record in the private world who will be making his first foray into the public sector.

Disruptive names appear on the same list, such as the controversial influencer and libertarian militant Lilia Lemoine. She is an activist and cosplayer of social networks who also starred in scandals in public demonstrations. She is remembered, for example, for the unfortunate and discriminatory phrase she gave Ofelia Fernández, whom she defined as an “Australian croissant tank.”

Another new face of La Libertad Avanza is that of Diana Mondino, first candidate for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires led by Javier Milei. She is a well-known economist on social networks, with a vast experience in the private world and a professor at the CEMA private university.

One of the exceptions to the call for inexperienced cadres in the world of institutional politics is Ricardo Bussi, who recently suffered a heavy defeat in Tucumán as a candidate for governor, but now has a good chance of returning to the Chamber of Deputies, where he has already He served from 1997 to 2003.

left front

The Left-Unity Front proposes in one of its two lists as the first pre-candidate for national deputy for the City of Buenos Aires the sociologist and former legislator from Buenos Aires Patrick del Corro (pts). Del Corro will compete internally against the list of the Partido Obrero and the MST, which leads to jessica gentle (PO) as the first candidate.
