RadioProfile | Rodrigo: the immortal quartet player

On June 24, 2000, Rodrigo Bueno, an Argentine quartet singer-songwriter, died.

Rodrigo “El Potro” Bueno was born on May 24, 1973 in Córdoba Capital.

He grew up surrounded by music in a family home in the San Martín neighborhood.

His father, Eduardo “Pichín” Bueno, was one of the leaders of the recording industry in the seventies.

For her part, her mother had written the lyrics to the songs of the first Córdoba quartets.

At the age of two, Mona Jiménez, a close friend of his father, took them on stage in the program “Fiesta Cuartetera” on Cordoba television.

At the age of five he did the choirs on the Disco Baby and Nicola Nicolita records.

While at the age of 12 he left school because he only wanted to sing.

At that age, he replaced the singer of the band “Manto Negro” and preferred to debut in Cordoba nightclubs.

At 15 he wrote his first song, “La foto de tu cuerpo” and recorded his first solo album, released in 1987.

His nickname “El Potro” originated in 1991, during his first show in Buenos Aires.

It was in the dancer “Fantástico Bailable” from Balvanera, a place that became more famous from that moment on.

In the bailantas of Capital Federal, Rodrigo modified to attract crowds.

His success immediately moved to the Buenos Aires coast, where he traveled in the summer of 2000 to perform fifty shows.

In April of that year, he canceled giving thirteen consecutive concerts at Luna Park, with all the tickets sold out.

It was an impeded record for a young Cordovan quarteter.

His presentations were dressed as a boxer.

On June 24, 2000, he died unexpectedly in a road accident on the Buenos Aires-La Plata highway.

It was at the Hudson toll station, in the Berazategui district, when he was traveling to the Federal Capital from City Bell, where he had given a show.

The fact shocked the whole country, since the artist found himself at the top of his career.
