Schwartzman’s harsh lament upon being eliminated from the Argentina Open

Diego Schwartzman (32nd), said goodbye to the Argentina Open in the round of 16 after suffering a painful defeat with the Spanish Bernabe Zapata Miralles (74th), after an hour and 18 minutes of play in the Guillermo Villas Stadium.

I can’t find an explanation for this moment or for the game I lost. It’s a shame, for all the people who came and who tried to lift me up in one way or another. Both here and in Córdoba, the two weeks, what the people towards me was spectacular, but I did not give them anything back, “said the little And said: “Every day I continue to do it the same way, I don’t understand why, but nothing is coming out of what used to come out on the pitch. I think that’s the explanation, you don’t have to turn it around. My level is far below what I can give. If you play on this level, you lose“.

“The truth is that today my level is very low and I can’t be competitive, not even with the help of people, nor with any mistake from the rival. That is the reality, I have to lose games that perhaps I used to win with this score and now I lose them this way. I’m having a hard time finding an explanation, that’s where the uncertainty I’m playing with also arises”, he added.

Schwartzman won only one game out of the last 12 he played, in this 2023 he lost in his premieres at the Córdoba Open and in New Zealand; and in Australia he fell in the second round. He will now compete, next week in the ATP 500 Rio de Janeiro.
