Talleres could not with Unión and left River one step away from the championship

Talleres could not beat Unión and the dream of the championship receded a little further. Gandolfi’s men were 9 points behind River, with three games to go, so only a catastrophe could prevent the title for those led by Demichelis.

It weighed on Talleres to be the exclusive protagonist of the match to stretch the definition until the next date. It is true that with the tie it was enough for River not to celebrate ahead of time but the truth is that he was unknown, especially in offense.

Unión offered him a match of equals, with Imanol Machuca free and turned into one of the cards of the Santa Fe team to balance the actions.

However, like the venue, it had few arrivals. The clearest, the free kick from the youthful Mateo del Blanco, which the goalkeeper Herrera took right at the corner.

Javier Gandolfi’s team was not fine in the Unión area. He lacked precision in the last pass and in the last shot. Uruguayan Michel Santos came close twice, but missed. The Paraguayan Ramón Sosa was not explosive either. Except for a run at 38 minutes, but when he stepped into the box he hooked and lost the ball to Del Blanco’s mark.

Gandolfi made two variations at halftime: Nahuel Bustos and Christian Oliva replaced Rodrigo Garro and Diego Ortegoza, respectively. But in less than 15 minutes, he lost the two forwards that started the game. Michel Santos was presented with a problem in his right leg, while Diego Valoyes began to have problems and was not the same as in the first minutes.

Pushed by his people, the best was in the last five minutes, both in the Unión area and in the Talleres area. At minute 43, José Romero scored poorly and then there was a lack of intelligence in the visiting defense, with Moyano far from the goal and Nahuel Bustos’s header went just wide.

In the end, Unión had a unique chance: Junior Marabel went alone towards the goalkeeper Herrera and just cut Catalán. On the other side, a bomb from Maximiliano Alvez went just wide.
