Beating Boca at La Bombonera is not an everyday thing. In fact, Belgrano had to wait 25 years to claim victory in the legendary xeneize redoubt, after that first experience on September 29, 1968: a 1-3 defeat on the fourth date of the AFA National Championship.
The first celebration was on 11/14/1993, a 1-0 win for the 19th date of the Apertura. It was the Uruguayan Luis Sosa, with 10 minutes remaining in the game, who surprised ‘Mono’ Navarro Montoya with a shot from outside the area and added a new chapter to his record of unforgettable goals with the ‘B’ shirt .
Led by Fernando Areán, the Cordoba enlisted Bossio; Abramovich, Cuffaro Russo, Cuciuffo (Brusco) and Rosané; Rivadero, Alonso and Acuna; Santoni; Ferreira and Sosa.
The reunion at the then ‘Camilo Cichero’ stadium, one year and seven months later, ended with a new celebration for Pirata. On 6/11/1995, for the 17th day of the Clausura, Belgrano repeated the 1-0 score, this time with a goal from Luis Fabián Artime, who capitalized on a defensive mistake in the first minute of play.
Labarre; Gaitán, Brusco, Marcelo Flores and Iribarren; Fernández, Cardenal and Rentera (Lencina); market; Bocco and Artime were chosen by the technical duo Jorge Guyón-Enrique Nieto.
On 8/19/2001, at the start of the Clausura, Belgrano surprised Boca de Carlos Bianchi, current champion of the Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental. They beat him 3-1, with goals from Marcelo Goux, Gastón Martina and Rubiel Quintana.
Mauro Iván Obolo stood out in Carlos Ramaciotti’s team, a young striker who had come on loan from Vélez. In the renamed ‘Alberto José Armando’ stadium, ‘B’ formed with: Olave; Castillo (Meta), López, Goux and Guzmán; Grana, Martina and Arce (Priotti); Quintana; Desagastizabal and Óbolo (Maldonado).
Since 1968, Belgrano has played 12 times against Boca at La Bombonera. They won 4, drew 4 and lost 8.
The last celebration of the Celeste in La Bombonera will be a decade old on February 16. It is about the 3-2 that the cast of Ricardo Zielinski obtained with goals from Emiiano Rigoni, Luciano Lollo and César Pereyra, for the 2nd date of the 2014 Final Tournament.
Guillermo Farré was the visiting captain in that match, which was played without an audience due to a sanction against Boca. The protagonists? Heredia; Barrios, Lollo, Aveldaño and Quiroga; Rigoni (Carrera), Farré, González and Velázquez (Pittinari); Pereyra and Good.
In the current Belgranense organization chart, Sosa is in charge of the Recruitment and Recruitment Area; Artime is the president of the club; Óbolo has just disassociated himself as sports director (he is going to Elche in Spain, tempted by the businessman Christian Bragarnik) and Farré is the coach of the professional team. They know what it’s about.
