The Illia highway will have no more barriers and the collection will be virtual

From today all the toll barriers on the Illia motorway are lifted. But no longer due to a traditional union measure, but rather – this morning – a new way of collecting tolls was enabled without the need for booths or barriers, in both directions of the route, both towards the Center and towards General Peace. According to the City authorities: “The first smart highway with automatic charging for private vehicles will be damaged.”

The automatic toll, without barriers, was already available since May 9, in the hand that ends at the Center. And since then, 74,000 users have joined. According to the company, there are currently 2.6 million users using it. In fact, statistics indicate that today, nine out of ten cars that circulate on the route are already adhered, which facilitates fluidity in traffic by avoiding stopping.

“AUSA is completing a very important milestone for the City by enabling the Provincia de la Illia direction, which completes the new smart highway. As of Saturday, users will no longer stop at the tollbooth in both directions”, said Carlos Frugoni, general director of AUSA. For his part, José Luis Acevedo, president of the company, stated: “The incorporation of technology in our highways allows us to improve the service, provide users with a better trip and our employees the possibility of growth.”

The current regulations indicate that, in order to travel on this Buenos Aires highway and pay virtually, it is mandatory to use the Telepass and have the vehicle in transit attached to the automatic collection system. But those who are not yet adhered and want to use this fast track must make the payment after leaving the highway. To do this, you must go to the AUSA website (And to pay the amount there is a period of thirty days after the pass. If you do not do so, the import ends significantly, since a fine will be generated for non-payment.

“Thanks to technology, we simplify life. These improvements make us a city where there is less pollution and where getting around is more agile.
