The Monumental is opening, with more capacity and illustrious guests

The Monumental stadium will open its doors today and will show the renovation of its facilities, with new stands, increased capacity and some details so that the fans can enjoy from this Sunday, when River receives Argentinos Juniors for the third date of the Professional League .

Within the framework of “Your Place in the Monumental”, an integral work that will end in 2024, both inside and outside, the Monumental underwent changes and an image wash that leads the club to have the largest stadium in South America .

Since the pandemic, the entity had begun a total reconstruction of the playing field, where synthetic grass mixed with natural was placed, and a whole drainage system that the main playing fields in the world have.

In addition, the athletics track that separated the field from the stands was dismantled and construction began on new structures to increase the stadium’s capacity by more than 10,000 spectators: now it is estimated that more than 83,000 people will be able to enter.

The lower lower stands were renovated, including the new seats, boxes, the redistribution of the popular stands and stalls behind the arches and the brand new unique tunnel for the players to exit, among other things.

In the preview of today’s game, a tribute will be paid to the Qatar 2022 champions and to the footballers who were crowned while they were at the Núñez club. The protagonists will be Franco Armani, as a player, along with Roberto Ayala and Pablo Aimar, as part of Lionel Scaloni’s coaching staff, winners of the third albiceleste star.
