The Professional League will apply a new tiebreaker criteria

years ago the fifa raised the flag of fair play as a banner and not only remained a cheap slogan, but tried to apply this slogan in concrete actions in the main leagues of Europe having its peak in the cup of World.

Starting this weekend, the Professional Soccer League apply a new tiebreaker criterion and practice the Fair play to determine positions.

In this sense, the first criterion in case of equality of points will be the greatest goal difference. Then the count of goals in favor will come, in case equality persists. And this is where the most significant change comes in, which is where the new tiebreaker system will be implemented.

The LPF implements as third instance of tiebreaker the inclusion in the General Table of Fair Play at the end of the Tournament.

The method to be applied by the Professional League will be that of a points discount. Taking 1000 points as a starting point, the units will be subtracted as follows:

  • Yellow card: one (1) point less.
  • Red for the second yellow card: three (3) points less (add to the point for the first yellow).
  • Direct red card: five (5) points less.

In the event that there is also a tie on the points scale, the team with the fewest number of expelled will prevail.
