in 2022, the Billing for sales made through the Ahora 12 program nationwide totaled $1.67 billion. It is the fourth consecutive year that they exhibit real increases. Compared to the previous year, the nominal increase was 77.6%, while in constant values it was 4%, the highest turnover year since 2014. Thus, the consultancy Politikon Chaco reported it in its last survey.
Also, it is observed that the invoicing in constant currency grew against 2021 in twenty-one subnational jurisdictionswhile he fell into only three of them
Now 12: the Government extended the program until June 2023 and added some cell phones
From the consultant he pointed out that, Although 2022 closed with real increases, the performance was not homogeneous. For example, in the first semester there were significant real increases in the program’s billing, with a real monthly average of 20.1%, showing peaks in April (37.1%) and with double-digit increases in four of the six months of that period.
However, from a deepening of the rise in prices and a fall in purchasing power, added to other factors such as personal indebtedness with credit institutions and changes in consumer habits, in the second semester the situation was reversed: Sales billing for Ahora 12 grew only in July with 7.3% and fell in the last five at an average rate of -10.5% per month. The biggest drop was in November (-14.9%).
Meanwhile, a real year-on-year decrease of 9.6% began in December, but the turnover volume was considerably higher than in previous months, with a strong rise compared to the previous month. This made it possible to cut the year/year rate of decline. In this sense, Christmas and year-end purchases were of vital importance.
The three items with the highest turnover volume for sales at the national level were: Clothing for $504,136.1 million (30.1% of the total); Appliances with $459,384.9 million (27.4% participation) and Construction Materials with $144,646.5 million (8.6% participation). These three items concentrated 66.1% of total sales for the year.
Further behind were Footwear and Leather Goods with $98,287.6 million (5.9% of the total); Tires, accessories and spare parts with $96,981.6 million (5.8%) and Tourism with $89,019.8 million (5.3% of the total). The remaining 26 who understood the program totaled some $283,581.1 million in sales, participating in 16.9% of the national total.
A relief for consumers: Now 12 for six more months
According to the survey of the consultancy Politikon Chaco based on data from the Ministry of Commerce, only in the City of Buenos Aires, Chaco and Río Negro did sales show increases in relation to inflation, with lower annual falls of 4.7%, 2.6% and 2.1%, respectively, while at the other extreme the main percentage increases occurred in Formosa (28.2%), Tucumán (26.2%) and La Rioja (24.4%).
In absolute values, CABA was the district that led the sales amounts, with $542,548.2 millionfollowed by the province of the same name with $521,829.1 million and between the two jurisdictions 63.5% of all sales in the country were concentrated through Ahora 12, less than the 65.6% they had in 2021.
At the other extreme, the five provinces with the lowest share of the national total (Santa Cruz, La Pampa, Formosa, Catamarca and La Rioja) concentrate only 1.5% of the total.
In line with what was observed at the national level, the vast majority of the provinces had the Clothing, Appliances and Construction Materials as the items with the highest concentration of sales in 2022, a situation that had already been observed in previous years. However, not only differences are observed in the position occupied by each of them, but there are also some districts with other items as protagonists.
