The source material behind Netflix Maid will receive a sequel novel later this year from author Stephanie Land and is expected to hit bookstores on November 7, 2023.
Released on Netflix in October 2021, Maid It has been one of Netflix’s most successful limited series. It is adapted from the best-seller Servant: hard work, low pay and a mother’s will to survive by Stephanie Land.
The next book, titled Classcontinues Maid’s story, which is based on the memoirs and real life of author Stephanie Land, who describes the new book as “Maid’s sequel and origin story.”

By good readsHere’s what you can expect from the new book that clocks in at 288 pages:
“Class paints an intimate and heartbreaking portrait of motherhood as it converges and often conflicts with personal desire and professional ambition. Who has the right to create art? Who has the right to go to university? And what kind of work is valued in our culture? In clear, candid, and moving prose, Class addresses these issues, offering a scathing indictment of the American education system and an inspiring testimony of one mother’s triumph against all odds.”

We are posting this after Maid bounced back into Netflix’s top 10 for the past week in dozens of Netflix regions, thanks in no small part to clips from the show going absolutely nuts on TikTok. Most of the clips have been posted by an account by the name of orrviv_moviewho has been posting numerous clips for the show, with some garnering millions of views, likes, and interactions.
The biggest video has collected 61.5 million visits in less than a week. Absolutely crazy.
This is a trend we’ve seen happen over the years with TikTok generating renewed interest in older shows, helping them jump into the top 10, with ginny and georgia being a great example of this in the past.

Of course, that’s on top of its impressive performance when the show launched, making it one of Netflix’s biggest titles of all time.
Could Netflix adapt the sequel novel into a follow-up series? It is possible but not currently planned. Maid it was intended beforehand to only be a limited series, but given the show’s success on Netflix since its arrival, it could certainly serve as the basis for a future season.
Netflix of course Maid already made a number of tweaks to the main initial novel (as covered on TikToks by the author and numerous publications), including the fact that his daughter’s name isn’t Maddy but Story, for example, but overall, the show and the book share similar rhythms and themes.
While we haven’t yet seen Warner Bros. Television’s option of the second book (or Netflix) publicly, given the renewed interest and new material, our fingers and toes are crossed.
