The striking confession of Emiliano Martínez: “I never want to go to penalties”

emiliano martinezarcher of the astonville and that will be highlighted in the definition by penalties in QatarHe revealed today that he “never” prefers, if he had to choose, he would reach that instance.

“The truth is that I never want to go to penalties, because the chances are shared half and half with the one who executes. That’s why I never imagine saying ‘I’m going to penalties and I win it’, since it’s very difficult and I know that at any moment he is going to lose me in that instance and I will have to accept it. Imagine that much less I was going to want to reach something like this in the final of the world with France”, confessed martinez.

“That’s why I knelt when Lautaro Martínez missed the goal in the last play of the final with France, since it mattered to me that I won the game in 90 minutes or the additional one, because penalties are a coin in the air and you never know if it comes up heads or tails. I don’t want anyone to define it that way”, he remarked. And to further ratify his feelings, he maintained that the two moments that he “suffered” the most in the World Cup were “the draws achieved by the Netherlands and France”.

“And in the case of the match with the French, when they tied us, there were four or five minutes left and there was a lot of tension. They had a lot of legs, wanting to win immediately, and instead we wanted it to end. It’s that when they hit you with two strong blows so quickly, one only asks to go into overtime. And there it seemed that it would be easier, but again they equalized us with two minutes to go and then I did want it to end”, he recorded drawing.
