From 2018 flop to 2022 glory: USA is alive and well at the World Cup
Christian Pulisic scored and was injured in a glorious and painful moment on Tuesday as the United States cruised to a 1-0 victory over Iran and advanced to World Cup qualifiers.
The Hershey, Pennsylvania native suffered an abdominal injury colliding with Iranian goalie Alireza Beiranvand in what turned out to be the winning play late in the first half.
Pulisic was substituted at halftime but says he will be ready in time for the next game. The United States will play in the round of 16 against Holland at 10am EST on Saturday in a game that will be televised in Spanish on Telemundo and broadcast on Peacock.
Achieving the tie was a great achievement for the USAwho failed to qualify for the 2018 tournament in Russia.
