What is the old Argentine currency that is sold for 8 million pesos

Inside of numismatics The value of a coin is increased by scarcity, rarity, and demand. In this regard, the printing of new banknotes and the minting of cash can trigger curious episodes in which an issue fails, printing errors or disappears from its total circulation.

To fines of the 70, during the National Reorganization Process, the country went through a serious economic crisis, where inflation was palpable on a daily basis. In this context, the printing and issuance of new copies of coins and banknotes was frequent. But the emission errors by the Mint they existed and allowed for the development of a few copies, of short circulation, which entailed some curiosity or rarity.

In 1978, on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Jose de San Martinthe Casa de la Moneda minted a coin in honor of the Liberator. The circular counted on one side, the value of $100 and the respective year of issue. On the other side, there was the profile of the hero, along with the dates “1778 – 1978”. For the following year, the idea was to keep this design, but instead of the dates next to the profile, the engraving would go a laurel branch

However, the entity had an error in the elaboration and both designs were mixed up. Hybrid design coins began to circulate, from 1978, which have the laurel; or they are from 1979, but with the dates “1778 – 1978”. This old Argentine currency, created almost 45 years ago, is one of the most valued on the internet, since they can be ordered up to 300,000 pesos for a copy.

But recently, a post on a sales portal drew attention, not only for offering one of these coins, but also for its price. The proposed sale value of the extraordinary item was 8 million pesos. According to several users, the seller seeks to attract attention among all the other offers on his account. Apparently, the owner of the circular would be willing to accept different discounts to the highest bidder.
