Why Dibu Martínez was left out of the ideal eleven

Emiliano Martínez was awarded The Best Award as the best goalkeeper of the year 2022, by beating Yassine Bonou, from Morocco and Seville, and Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian from Real Madrid, who did not attend the ceremony.

The Dibu, 30 years old, he also established himself as the first Argentine to win an individual award in that category. However, the striking thing about the ceremony was that Martínez was not in the ideal team.

Why is Dibu Martínez not part of the ideal eleven?

The award The Best is an award in which captains and captains, coaches and coaches of the 211 soccer teams vote, a journalist selecting each member of FIFA and the fans through an online election on the FIFA website. This distinction was won by the Argentine Emiliano Martínez.

but FIFA/FIFPro World 11 is the exclusive choice of professional footballers of the highest league category, of the 211 federations belonging to FIFA. That explains why the result was different.

The same thing happened in this same edition in the female branch. Mary Earps was chosen as the best goalkeeper, while the Chilean Christiane Endler integrated the ideal eleven.

FIFPro’s ideal eleven of 2022

The ideal female team: Christiane Endler; Lucy Bronze, Maria Leon, Leah Williamson, Wendie Renard; Alexia Putellas, Keira Walsh, Lena Oberdorf; Alex Morgan, Sam Kerr and Beth Mead.

The ideal male team: Thibaut Courtois; Achraf Hakimi, Joao Cancelo, Virgil Van Dijk; Kevin de Bruyne, Luka Modirc, Casemiro; Lionel Messi; Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland.
