World Skate Day: the fun tournament to celebrate the boom in sport in the country

Not to mention when the exciting definition arrives, which ended up crowning Noah Canaparo (25 years old, from Villa Crespo, the only one that exceeded 65 centimeters) among women luca ledebur (23, from Balvanera, jumped 95 centimeters, almost a meter!) in the men.

An afternoon-night that was complemented with delicious pizzas distributed on the go, beers, games, music with the DJ Sun Jointlive band (Fack Dolls), art by the hand of martin varbaro and the broadcast of two audiovisual jewels, one of the trip that the team DC he did during 15 days of March through the South of Argentina and the other 3-minute special piece that Mauro Iglesiasone of the best national skaters of the moment, he did over the course of more than a year and will soon have its premiere on the official channels of the magazine Thrasher.

A day that reflected the exponential growth that skateboarding has had at the urban level in our country, which is complemented by its Olympic insertion and everything that this has generated in recent years.

“The event was very good. There was a beautiful show in the contest, I really enjoyed Maurito’s (Iglesias) video, a real joy, and then a very fun session was put together outside the premises. I work in skateboarding, in a local gallery and also giving classes. In my life it represents more than a sport”, recounted ledebur a native of Balvanera who has been skating since he was 10 years old, since his grandmother gave him a skateboard from a toy store

“Going skateboarding is a habit, more than an activity. Most of the people I meet are connected to this world. All my closest friends skate and I met them while skating. I don’t train like a sportsman, I just go skateboarding every day. every day because it’s what I like to do and that’s it,” he added, passionate

Luca made an impact from the start of the competition, which started at 65 centimeters for the men. “Whoever skates knows that ollie is done every day, whether it is to climb a step, jump something or simply to practice. I have quite practiced it, although I do not consider it my specialty. I had no expectations with the tournament, I didn’t expect to win, but who doesn’t want to do it once they’re in competition?

“The one that I was able to download was very pleasant. When I touched the ground I immediately looked back to see if he had not dropped the club… Seeing that he continued in the guides was very gratifying, ”admitted who was not the favorite a priori. “It is known in the field of skateboarding that Sebastián Franco is one of the most pop. I didn’t know he was invited but I imagined it…”. ledebur he surpassed that mark that Franco, everyone’s candidate, could not.

It also surprised that Canaparo win among the girls. “Ollie is not a house specialty. She didn’t expect to win nor did she think he could reach that height. In fact, I don’t think I ever jumped that high. But at that moment, when they went up to the last distance, I felt good, confident that I could do it: I put my knees well into my chest and he came out luckily. A joy, ”revealed Noe.

She has been skating since she was 11 years old with friends in Villa Crespo. She has already been on top of a table for 14 years, a lifetime for her. “Skateboarding means a lot to me, it’s part of my identity as a person”, summarized who thanked for the event, the originality, “the very good videos, the beer and the pizzas”.

For now, he is training to get back on top and was at the event, premiering an audiovisual product that he never dreamed of but ended up being top, to the point of being requested by Thrasher for its premiere.

“I started it as a hobby, to have fun, and at one point I realized that I use very good tricks that nobody had done in the country. I kept recording it, with my friend Tomás Scicchitano (the filmer), in Buenos Aires and in different parts of the world where he traveled for events, and something very cool was left. There are three minutes in which I show where I came from, my neighborhood, and how far I got, in some way. It is a pride that Thrasher has taken an interest, ”he explained.

He also claimed to have had “a click when I was 15 years old and I did very well in a tournament in Eh?Park and then in an international competition that was held in La Rural.
