The English League Cup Final between Manchester United and Newcastle United will have spectators standing for the first time in almost 35 years.
Each club will receive close to 900 places behind the Wembley Stadium arches in which their fans will be able to stand.which is a novelty compared to the regulations that were presented after the Hillsborough catastrophe in 1989.
The possibility of attending matches standingand not sitting in an armchair, was banned after 97 people died in Hillsboroughin an FA Cup semi-final between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.
The Premier League and the EFL were the introduction of zones where fans can stand from this season, after having tried it last season in certain stadiums. The League Cup final will be played at Wembley on February 26.
