‘The Woman King’ Coming to Netflix in Select Regions in February 2023

The great Viola Davis movie of 2022, the king womanIt will arrive on Netflix in two regions in February 2023 with more to follow in the future.

Having just debuted at TIFF for excellent reviews Overall, the film is targeting a theatrical release on September 16, 2022.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film is about an all-female warrior unit that protected Dahomey in West Africa in the 19th century.

Viola Davis leads the cast, but also features the talents of thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim and John Boyega.

When the king woman be on Netflix in the US?

The film will arrive on Netflix as part of the deal reached in 2021 that brings all theatrical releases to the service for the first window.

While details of the deal are still being worked out, so far, we know the movie should hit Netflix somewhere between 120 days (which is when umma hit Netflix) and 168 days (which is when Unexplored hit Netflix).

That means we currently expect the king woman to stream on Netflix US between January 14, 2023 and March 3, 2022.

On February 2, Netflix confirmed via a Tweet that The Woman King would arrive on February 16, 2023, exactly 153 days after its theatrical debut.

When the king woman be on Netflix in India?

Netflix India is also currently in a first window deal with Sony Pictures, although release dates are much easier to predict than in the US.

In India, without fail, they have received new movies from Sony exactly 120 days after their theatrical release. That means you should receive the movie in January 2023.

Will other Netflix regions be streaming? the king woman?

The likely answer is yes, although we don’t have details, and it’s not anytime soon.

Netflix in various regions receives new movies from Sony promptly, though neither Netflix nor Sony promote any deals as we know for the US.

Netflix Canada and the UK receive movies from Sony approximately 2 years after their theatrical release. This also applies to regions such as Belgium, Greece, Japan, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and South Africa.

That would mean that Netflix in these regions will see the king woman added sometime in 2024.

Other regions will have to wait even longer.
