Independiente separated Barreto and gave an ultimatum to the players who must renew their contracts

this Thursday, Independiente reported that footballers who do not renew their contract with the institution will not play for the club againafter separating the defender sergio barreto from the professional staff for not reaching an agreement to extend their bond.

“The Board of Directors of Club Atlético Independiente has made the decision to set a deadline for negotiations with those footballers who have to renew their relationship with the institution during the current year”, began the official statement of the Avellaneda group.

And he added: “Those players with whom an improved agreement cannot be reached for both parties that result in the extension of the contractual link that binds them to the institution, They will not take into account to integrate the formation of the first team“.

In that line, closed: “We consider that This measure is necessary to protect the club’s assets and we will continue working so that Independiente returns to being a serious and reliable entity”.

At this moment there are four members of the current squad with whom the leadership is in negotiations: it is about Tomás Pozzo, Rodrigo Márquez, Braian Martínez and Barretowho was already removed from the first team.

“There have to be connections between the sale price and the salary. The offer we made to Barreto is one of the most important for the club because we want him to stay, but there is no coherence between the sale price and the salary. I am not going to give figures“said the president of Independiente, Fabian Doman.

In turn, he added: “What they intended and what we would achieve is far awayThey asked for a figure above the local market. This was decided in advance, not with Barreto, but in general. That is why you will have seen that there were many new contracts, we are preventing problems. For me, the quick solution for Argentine soccer is to sign contracts for three years.”
